Road Closure and diversion in conjunction with ‘V-Malaysia 2019’

THERE will be road closure and diversion from April 21 until 27 at Jalan Mahsuri (between Jalan Tun Dr Awang and Pesiaran Mahsuri) in conjunction with ‘V-Malaysia 2019: Lead to Inspire, Inspire to Lead’.

Exco for Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) Yeoh Soon Hin said V-Malaysia 2019, which for the past years have been the single largest business events to be hosted in Penang, will see a total of 13,000 delegates from around the world gathered at SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Baru.

“Heavy traffic is expected at the Penang International Airport on April 21 -22 and April 27-28, for the arrival and departure of delegates due to massive number of delegates travelling into Penang for the convention,” Yeoh told a press conference at Komtar this morning  to announce the road closure and diversion.

Also present were South West  District’s public order division officer, ASP Mohd Zin Mat Ali, and co-ordinating officer to Yeoh Soon Hin, Grace Teoh Koon Gee.

Yeoh added that V-Malaysia 2019 will be the sixth consecutive edition hosted in Penang.

V-Malaysia (V-CON) is an annual convention organized by QNET, one of Asia’s leading direct selling companies offering a wide range of health, wellness and lifestyle products that enable people to lead better products.

It features a combination of the QNet’s trade exhibition and its corporate conference that take place simultaneously at Setia SPICE Convention Centre and Setia SPICE Arena respectively.

The following closure and diversion road will take place to alleviate traffic congestion:

  1. All buses picking up convention delegates from the airport are encouraged to wait at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and only depart to Penang International Airport to pick up delegates once they arrive, to alleviate airport congestion.

One of the existing lane will be closed to accommodate the buses.

(The public is advised to take the arrangement into account and plan ahead their journey to the airport and to work place by leaving earlier to avoid delays).

  1. The vicinity of Setia SPICE Convention Centre and Spice Arena will also be heavily congested as some 350 buses will be transporting the delegates from the hotels to the convention centre and back. As such, there will be road closure from April 22 to 26, 10pm until 12am and April 27, 2pm until 4pm to facilitate the pick up of delegates.
