BATU Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan (PH)  has expressed his desire to see the transformation of Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal so as to provide a quality service to the public.

“I hope that the bus terminal will be upgraded by integrating the concept of smart city.

“It will be great if it is upgraded in terms of its facilities. For instance, the waiting area can be upgraded with more seats.

“Not only that, the ticketing system can be enhanced by going online,” Kumaresan told the  media after attending the State Legislative Assembly sitting at Dewan Sri Pinang today.

He also raised his concern regarding ‘Ulat tiket’ (Ticket touts) which was brought to his attention by the operators at the Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal.

“If the terminal runs in a systematic manner, just the like Penang Sentral, we can surely rectify the prevalences of the ticket touts,” he said.

Apart from that, he suggested that the Pesta site located beside the terminal be used as a site for night market activities.

“The Pesta site can be used to organise activities which can engage the local communities, such as the night market.

“The site is very spacious. Thus, it is a waste if it is only used during the Pesta. We do not want the area to be a white elephant,” Kumaresan added.
