Batu Kawan to house the first Aloft brand hotel in the northern region

BUSINESS and leisure travellers can look forward to enjoy the first Aloft Hotel in the northern region in the next few years.

The fruitful collaboration between Aspen Group and Marriott International Incorporated marked the aspiration of both parties to bring in the distinctive Aloft brand hotel to Batu Kawan, Penang.

The hotel will be strategically located in Aspen Vision City, a prime location for mixed development in Batu Kawan.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said he was pleased to note that Aspen Group had again made headlines by introducing the first ‘international business-class hotel’ in Batu Kawan.

“The Group has introduced many brands and projects in Penang. I believe that the upcoming hotel by Marriott will enhance the tourism industry in Penang,” Chow said in his speech today.

Chow said the tourism industry plays a major role in the state’s economic growth.

He witnessed the agreement signing ceremony between Aspen Group president and chief executive officer Datuk M. Murly and Marriott International Incorporated hotel development Asia Pacific senior vice-president Kevin Chen at Aspen Vision City sales gallery in Batu Kawan.

Murly said that Batu Kawan is set to be a major attraction for business and leisure visitors.

The construction of the hotel is expected to begin end of this year and it is scheduled to complete in 2023.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr. P. Ramasamy, Batu Kawan MP Kasthuriraani Patto, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik and Seberang Perai Municipal Council president Datuk Rozali Mohamud.
