PENANG Island City Council (MBPP) employees have been encouraged to provide the best and most efficient services to their clients.

MBPP secretary Addnan Mohd Razali said the time has come for them to change their delivery service system and not conform to their usual ways.

“If you look around us, everything is done fast and easily nowadays such as through the smartphone which is constantly being updated of its application,” Addnan said in his speech while representing MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang at the ‘MBPP Innovation and Creative Competition’ at the Auditorium in Komtar on April 18.

“Every now and then, the smartphone manufacturers are competing with each other to come up with more creative innovations. Through this manner, they can remain as the most sought-after brand.

“Therefore, I call upon all the MBPP staff to emulate this approach to keep up with the technological advancement and contribute creative and innovative ideas when carrying out their daily work.”

Addnan added that the ‘MBPP Innovation and Creative Competition’ was also a good platform for the MBPP staff to show their creative talents.

In the competition, which attracted 17 entries, Licensing Buzz from the MBPP Licensing and Service Management Department emerged as the champions and won the top prize of RM1,000.

The team, comprising Amran Chew, Nurhafizah Muhamad and Nurul Izzati Amirudin, developed a mobile app for the wet market, stalls and hawkers to forward their suggestions or complaints. The app also allows interviews to be conducted online for those who apply for licences.

Team Ops 4 from the Law Enforcement Department, who came up with a modified wheel lock creation, received RM800.

Third place went to Team Mandiri, who used fallen trees as recycling products. They received RM500.
