ONE hundred and five underprivileged from the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency were delighted after they received red packets and food items during the blood donation and health screening campaign at Life Hope Centre in Jalan Masjid Negeri.

The event was jointly organised by the Lions Club of Georgetown Island and the office of Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.

Thirty-five needy residents were chosen from each of the three state constituencies under the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency, to receive the aid.

Lions Club of Georgetown Island president Davin Lee said the event was held to promote a healthy lifestyle among the people.

“The blood donation campaign is held to replenish the Penang Hospital blood bank.

“We also have free haircut service besides the free health screening.

“Those who wished to pledge to be organ donors can also do so at this event,” he said in his speech today.

Ramkarpal Singh said he hoped to see more of such charity event in Bukit Gelugor.

He said it is important to aid those in need.

The needy recipients received red packets as well as goodie bags containing T-shirts, oranges, rice packets, oats, biscuits, coffee packets and others.
