CM declares open new community hall in Permatang Pasir

RESIDENTS at Kampung Pelet and its nearby areas have something to cheer about after they can now hold various activities following the completion of a new community hall in Permatang Pasir, Permatang Pauh.

 

Known as Dewan Orang Ramai Permatang Pasir and located in Kampung Pelet, it is the biggest community hall in Permatang Pasir.

 

The 715.4sq m (7,700.5sq ft) community hall was officially opened by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today.

 

Chow said the project was fully funded by the Penang government at a cost of RM5.1 million.

 

“Of the RM5.1 million, RM1.9 million was for land acquisition and the remaining RM3.2 million for the construction cost.

“This project was announced back in 2013 and the construction started in August 2019 by the Public Works Department (JKR).

 

“And by Jan 5 this year, the construction of the new hall has been fully completed.

“Thus, I am very happy today that the project was completed within the stipulated time.

“And I would like to thank JKR, District Office in central Seberang Perai and other agencies for their commitment to this project,” Chow said in his speech during the opening ceremony at the new community hall in Permatang Pasir, Permatang Pauh today.

Also present were state Agrotech and Food Security, Rural Development and Health Committee chairman Dr Norlela Ariffin, who is also the Penanti assemblyman, Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, Permatang Pasir assemblyman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil and Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) mayor Datuk Azhar Arshad.

 

According to Chow, the new community hall could accommodate up to 500 people at any one time.

 

“It is also equipped with a VIP room, meeting rooms, fitting rooms, prayer room for Muslims, parking lots for cars and motorcycles and many more.

 

“The meeting rooms also have LCD projectors and are ideal to hold meetings, tuition classes or workshops.

 

“I hope the locals here will make full use of the facilities provided here and take good care of them so that they will not be vandalised by irresponsible individuals.

 

“I also hope more community programmes can be organised in the new community hall to foster unity among the people here,” he said.
