CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow officially launched the Penang2030 Dashboard System during the Civil Service Assembly at The Top in Komtar today.

The system, he said, has been linked to the Penang2030 website and could be viewed live (real-time) by the public now.

“The Penang2030 Dashboard is an important system to ensure that the state government is always governed with a clear direction to safeguard the well-being of its people by focusing on the sustainable development agenda.

“It is also a transparent public governance instrument which is able to foster public involvement. This is because this dashboard clearly shows the measurable achievements of the state government.

“As such, the public can voice their views and even offer constructive criticism for the benefit of the people of the state as a whole.

“The percentage of current achievements recorded in this dashboard is 26%. This achievement is backed up until 2030.

“In comparison, the rate is also seen as a good benchmark for us to continue to realise the targets set in the Penang2030 vision for a ‘Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’,” Chow said during his speech.

The dashboard system was developed by the state Information Technology and Communication Division (BTMKN) in early 2021 to monitor the achievement of targets under the strategic initiative (SI) of each ‘champion exco’ concerned.

It was then upgraded by Digital Penang recently, with the joint effort of the Penang2030 Unit from the Chief Minister’s Office, for the public to directly monitor the implementation of projects or programmes under the state government in particular.

Chow also thanked all the ‘champion excos’ consisting of the state executive councillors, as well as ‘champion officers’ consisting of appointed civil servants for their hard work in setting targets and updating the status of current achievements in the Penang2030 Dashboard.

Earlier, State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus told the gathering that in a meeting between him and the Kedah State Secretary last month for bilateral talks, a joint committee is expected to be formed to resolve any issue between the two states.

He also urged all civil servants in Penang to carry out their duties honestly and deliver their best services for the people of the state, reminding them of the CAT (competency, accountability and transparency) principles that have been adopted by the state since 2008.

Chow later presented the Geospatial World Innovation Award to Penang Women’s Development Corporation and BTMKN for coming up with the Penang Stops Violence app, and PLANMalaysia and BTMKN for producing the ‘MyKampong Connected Communities’ app.

The apps provide user the locations of First Support Points for victims of domestic violence.

Also present were State Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang, Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, state executive councillors Chong Eng and Soon Lip Chee, state Legal Adviser Datuk Norazmi Mohd Narawi and state Financial Officer Datuk Dr Mohamad Farazi Johari.
