Deepavali cheer for children with special needs

CHILDREN from Cerebral Palsy Children’s Association of Penang (PKAPP) had an enjoyable morning when they took part in a gathering cum Deepavali celebrations with their families and staff at the association premises in Jalan Masjid Negeri.

Among the highlights at the function were the lighting up of kuthuvilakku (oil lamp), dances, cake cutting, certificate presentation and distribution of goodie bags and red packets.

CPACC president Ng Fook On, in his welcoming speech, said the association took the opportunity to bring joy and fun to the children during this Festival of Lights.

“We would like to bring together all the children, their families, staff and friends to encourage the spirit of sharing and caring.

“Children are encouraged to show their talents with their performances and we are grateful to the teachers for helping and preparing them for this event,” he added.

Also present were Penang Hindu Endowment Board chief executive officer Datuk M. Ramachandran and PKAPP founder Alagesan Ayaru

Alagesan said PKAPP, which was established in 2016, has been actively involved in various community and welfare-based programmes and events.

“Our mission is to uplift the lower income community and our vision is aligned with our motto, ‘Serve Community, Develop Community’.

“We would very much like to move further and in order to do more, we need financial assistance.

“Hence, we appeal to kind-hearted persons to come forward and support us generously or sponsor our projects,” he commented.
