REPRESENTATIVES from M. Summit Group, Silicon Island Development Sdn Bhd (SIDSB) and the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry visited the Buletin Mutiara media team at Komtar today ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
The three groups were warmly welcomed by State Communications Division director and Chief Minister’s press secretary Yap Lee Ying and her colleagues.
Buletin Mutiara expressed its appreciation for the visit and for the recognition of its commitment to responsible journalism and its role in keeping Penangites informed.

Fion Yap, press secretary to Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong, expressed Sim’s deepest appreciation to the media for their commitment, dedication and hard work in delivering information to the public. She was accompanied by Sim’s special officer Lim Zheng Han, and special function officer Chee Yee Ceeu.
“The role of the media is crucial in strengthening the values of justice and togetherness, while ensuring that the voices of the people continue to be heard.
“Along with this message, I’m also sharing a small gift of special dates from the Palestinian community, who have long shared their warmth and friendship in this country. May this gesture serve as a symbol of our support for the values of brotherhood and humanity that we must continue to uphold,” Sim said in a press statement.

SIDSB strategic communications and stakeholder management head Ann Tan said consistent and factual reporting by Buletin Mutiara has helped the public better understand the objectives, progress and long-term benefits of the Silicon Island project for Penang.
“Buletin Mutiara’s commitment to responsible journalism plays an important role in ensuring the public receives credible information, especially in today’s fast-moving information landscape,” she said.
Also present were SIDSB strategic communications and stakeholder management assistant manager Christopher Tan, senior executives Saiful Azizi Shamsudin and S. Kumhutha, and executive Noor Zawani Mohamed.

M Summit Group corporate communications manager Ng Su-Ann said the visit provided an opportunity for both sides to engage and explore ways to strengthen collaboration moving forward.
“Our company acknowledges the media’s vital role in delivering timely and accurate information. Effective reporting helps the public stay informed and connected,” said Ng, who was accompanied by corporate communications executive Shuhaib Abdul Walad and corporate communications intern Avivea Ghinni Tang.

Ng also highlighted the festive Raya decoration at M Summit’s premises, created by the company’s creative team under this year’s ‘Green’ theme.
“Inspired by the charm of a traditional Malay kampung house, this Raya décor is made entirely from recycled materials, including wooden pellets from our construction site. The roof is made with real nipah leaves collected from a village, bringing back the nostalgic feel of kampung homes from the past,” she said.
She added that even the details were creatively repurposed — a foam cake base and tripod were turned into a table, while the pelita lamps are solar-powered.
“Built with heart and teamwork, seven people spent three days creating this small kampung corner — a reminder that sustainability and tradition can go hand in hand,” she said.
