SOME 3,000 participants are expected to take part in the ‘I Love George Town Run’ at 1st Avenue Mall on Aug 25.
The 5km fun run, which is jointly organised by 1st Avenue and Occupy Beach Street, will allow them to enjoy the enchanting street views of George Town while running along some of the heritage city’s iconic sites.
“This family-friendly fun run aims to inspire all Penangites to live a more active and healthier lifestyle while embodying the idea of making sports accessible to all ages,” state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said at a press conference at Komtar on July 2.
Also present were TLM Event Sdn Bhd public relations executive Ng Kim Theng, event coordinator Lim Che Yaow, 1st Avenue Mall Sdn Bhd manager, leasing & marcom Chong Sue Ann and its senior executive (marketing) Ooi Woei Luen. Joining them were Komtar’s assemblyman Teh Lai Heng.
Soon said the 5-km run would take the participants through some prominent and historical streets within the George Town Heritage site, from Lebuh Tek Soon to Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, Lebuh Pantai, Lebuh Light, Lebuh Farquhar, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong before ending at 1st Avenue Mall.
“Participants can also look forward to a lucky draw session after the run. The top prize is a dream holiday to London for seven days six nights (for 2 persons) to experience its breathtaking scenery and more.”
