ALONGSIDE the various rapid and strategic transformations taking place in Penang, the ‘Penang Auto Xperience’ (PAX) was unveiled today, showcasing the latest automative innovations.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai emphasised that PAX goes beyond being an automotive event, reflecting Penang’s innovative and experiential spirit.
According to Wong, with the development of infrastructure, events like PAX are becoming increasingly important, linking the automotive lifestyle industry with tourism, retail, digital content creation, and the wider creative economy.
“I am inspired by PAX’s digital creativity through the Content Creator Competition, which empowers young talents to tell Penang’s story through their own lens.

“These creators serve as ambassadors of the state’s vibrant and innovative identity, boosting Penang’s profile across Malaysia.
“I also applaud PAX’s corporate social responsibilty (CSR) initiatives in education, community welfare, and healthcare, showing that commercial success can go hand in hand with social responsibility,” Wong said at PAX launching ceremony at Setia SPICE Arena.
Meanwhile, Wong also underscored that Penang continues to shine on the global stage, recently being recognised by National Geographic as the second-best island in Southeast Asia. He said this demonstrates state’s unique blend of culture, innovation, and quality of life.
“Apart from that, our economic fundamentals remain strong, with Penang recording RM17.3 billion in approved manufacturing investments in 2024, reflecting our position as one of Malaysia’s most dynamic and competitive economic powerhouses.
“Penang is undergoing major infrastructure upgrades, including highways, reclaimed islands, airport expansion, and the LRT. These developments are building an environment that supports world-class events, tourism experiences, creative festivals, and future-oriented industries.
“PAX aligns perfectly with this ecosystem by bringing together automotive innovation, design, motorsport culture, lifestyle experiences and youth creativity under one roof,” he added.
Wong, who is also the Paya Terubong assemblyman, pointed out that PAX reflects Penang’s commitment to becoming a leading destination for creative and innovative experiences.

“It showcases what makes Penang exceptional: our people, our creativity, and our commitment to progress.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the organisers, partners and sponsors for your vision and determination.
“The state government is proud to support initiatives that uplift industries, empower our youth, and strengthen Penang’s position as a leading creative and experiential destination in Malaysia and the region,” Wong added.
