IT was indeed a lifetime experience for some 4,000 cyclists who took part in the Penang International Bridge to Bridge Ride (PgIB2B) 2019.

The iconic 66km ride was touted as the first ever ride in Asia; allowing participants to cycle across two well-known bridges in Penang – the Penang Bridge and the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge.

It was stated in the event page that permission to use both bridges simultaneously for an event was extremely difficult to obtain.

Organising chairman Datuk Dr Lim Seh Guan said the organiser wanted to promote cycling in Penang and to make it enjoyable for cyclists.

“Just relax your mind and enjoy the ride. Take in the beauty of an early morning and of Penang,” he said.

Dr Lim added that participants would also take home medals made from 100% pewter.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow flagged off the event at the Queensbay Mall open space carpark area at 6.30am today.

“Enjoy moment along the journey as it is going to be a memorable one.

“You are going to cross two iconic bridges in Penang in this event,” he said drawing cheers from the crowd.
