CELEBRATING its sixth anniversary this year, Occupy Beach Street will be holding two diverse sports events next month.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said TLM Event Sdn Bhd, the organiser of Occupy Beach Street, would be organising the ‘I Love Penang Walk 2019’ on Dec 8 at 7am and ‘OBS Christmas Run 2019 on Dec 22 at 7am at Beach Street.
“The organiser is calling everyone to come together to have a feel of what a gem Penang really is by taking part in the two events,” Soon told a press conference in Komtar today.
Also present were Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen and TLM managing director Jack Wong.
He said following the resounding success of ‘I Love Penang Walk’ last year, they are expecting this year’s fun walk to attract some 6,000 participants from near and far.
Participants will pass through Lebuh Gereja, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, Lebuh Chulia, Jalan Penang, Lebuh Campbell, Jalan Buckingham, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, Lebuh Acheh, Lebuh Carnavon, Lebuh Dr Lim Chwee Leong and back to Lebuh Pantai.
“All Penangites are encouraged to seize this occasion to enjoy a brisk walk within the heritage enclave of Penang, soaking up its mesmerising beauty and expressing their immense love for the city,” he added.
The fees for the ‘I Love Penang Walk 2019’ are RM20 (OKU) and RM30 (Adult & Child). Registration closes on Nov 30. Every participant will be entitled to a T-shirt, medal and e-certificate.

On the OBS Christmas Run 2019, Soon said the organiser hopes to attract members of the public of all ages to participate to usher in the joyous festive season of Christmas together.
“Both events are to inspire all Penangites to live a more active and healthier lifestyle while embodying the holistic idea of making sports accessible to all regardless of age, ethnicity or background,” he said.
The fees for the OBS Christmas Run 2019 are RM20 (OKU) and RM39 (Adult & Child). Registration closes on Nov 30.
Every participant will be entitled to a T-shirt, Christmas hat, medal and e-certificate.
