THE George Town Festival (GTF) 2019 continues its 16-day artistic adventure with ‘Art in the City’ at the UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 20 and 21 from 5pm to 11pm.

State Tourism Development, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the heritage city’s clan houses, shophouses, back alleys, and five-foot ways would be buzzing with a multitude of artistic activities this weekend.

“The two-day engaging programmes will be filled with exciting events for everyone. The programmes are slated to run smoothly simultaneously in separate locations within the George Town World Heritage Site yet within a reasonable distance,” Yeoh told a press conference at George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) office on July 16.

“We are expecting some 50,000 visitors to come and share the joy.”

In addition, GTF 2019 director Jack Wong said the highlights of the programmes include the Malaysia Inside Out (Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling), Garden Gig (Armenian Park), Tiny Touts (She Tek Tong Cheah Kongsi), Puppet Stage (The Whiteaways Arcade), Dance @ 74 (74, Jalan Lim Chee Leong/ Sia Boey), Party Lorong (Gat Lebuh China), Rojak Penang 3 (The Whiteaways Arcade), Funny Business with Kavin Jay & Friends and Antithesis (Soundmaker Studio).

Yeoh added that in conjunction with the festival, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling would be closed from 6pm on July 18 to 6am on July 22 to facilitate the ‘Malaysian Inside Out’ event.

He said for ‘Party Lorong’, Gat Lebuh China would be closed from 6am on July 20 to 6am on July 22.

Visitors are advised to use public transport or car pool when attending the festival to ease traffic congestion.

Grab ride-sharing promotions are also available under the GRAB2GTF19 promo code where visitors can enjoy RM5 off each ride for four rides to and from the events
