Grocery cheer for the needy

OVER 5,000 boxes of groceries have been distributed to the collection centres and the service centres of the state elected representatives.

 

The 5,237 boxes are to be given to the needy communities in the northeast district who are registered with the Social Welfare Department, those listed under the Equitable Economic Agenda (AES) and those living in the People’s Housing Project (PPR) schemes.

Penang Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh had said that a total of 20,000 boxes of supplies would be distributed to the five districts in the state.

 

Among the state constituencies in the northeast districts are Padang Kota, Pulau Tikus, Air Putih, Air Itam, Batu Lancang, Datuk Keramat, Paya Terubong, Seri Delima and Komtar.

More than 2,400 boxes of groceries had been distributed to the southwest district on April 12.
