A VIBRANT new community space has opened its doors in Pulau Tikus, offering enthusiasts of all ages a welcoming place to connect, explore their passions and build meaningful friendships.

Located at 11A, Lebuhraya Maktab, just a five-minute walk from Gurney Plaza, Hanabana Clubhouse is the brainchild of five passionate hobbyists and students of Mushinkan Dojo namely Cindy Kuan, Ooi Ee-Ling, Tan Ru Yan, Nyak Nesham and Kevin Hans Jun Wei Samuel.

More than just a clubhouse, Hanabana serves as a hobby and cultural hub where people can gather to enjoy games, collectibles, workshops, events and shared interests in a relaxed and friendly environment.

According to co-founder Ooi Ee-Ling, the clubhouse was created with a simple yet meaningful vision which is to bring people together through hobbies and culture.

“Hanabana Clubhouse is a place where hobbies, culture, co-playing spaces, events, workshops, games, accessories and collectibles come together.

“It is also a place where people can meet new friends, hang out and enjoy meaningful conversations,” Ooi said during an interview session with Buletin Mutiara.

Visitors are encouraged to spend time relaxing with fellow enthusiasts, engaging in casual conversations, playing games or simply admiring the clubhouse’s growing collection of collectibles, dolls, figurines, merchandise and hobby-related treasures.

Whether one is passionate about gaming, anime, Japanese culture, collecting memorabilia or simply looking for a cosy community space, Hanabana aims to provide a welcoming environment where like-minded individuals can connect.

“Come chill with us, chat, play games and make new friends. We welcome everyone, regardless of what hobbies they enjoy. There is no need to be shy,” Ooi said.

The name ‘Hanabana’ itself carries a special significance. Derived from Japanese, it is associated with conversation, communication and flowers, symbols that perfectly reflect the clubhouse’s mission.

“We want people to discover something here. We want them to find their hobbies, find their passion and ultimately find their own blossom through hobbies,” Ooi explained.

Since its establishment, the team has successfully organised more than 20 events under the Hanabana banner, ranging from hobby-related gatherings to cultural activities and workshops.

The clubhouse also operates under the auspices of the Japanese Consulate-General, further strengthening its connection to Japanese culture and community engagement.

Although Hanabana Clubhouse only celebrated its soft opening today, it has already attracted an enthusiastic following, boasting more than 200 members.

Despite its growing membership, the founders emphasise that Hanabana remains a community club that is open to everyone.

“Our target audience includes millennials and working adults who are looking to network, socialise and meet people who share similar interests.

“This is a place where friendships can be formed through common passions,” Ooi said.

Hanabana Clubhouse operates every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7pm to 10pm.
