Hard Rock Hotel aims to raise RM50,000 through RTRR for Mutiara Food Bank

THE Hard Rock Hotel Penang’s most anticipated Rock to Rock Run (RTRR) is back for the ninth time and it is set to place on June 18 this year from 6am to 11am, kicking off at the hotel premises itself to as far as the Penang Tropical Spice Garden and Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm.

The run, which was first introduced in 2010 to raise awareness and funds to support the local community and improve the lives of the needy, has set its sights to raise RM50,000 for the Mutiara Food Bank this year.

It was learnt that a total of 280 needy families are expected to benefit from the food supplies that will be channelled from the Mutiara Food Bank.

Set up in 2017 by the Penang government, the food bank is aimed at collecting surplus food from supply chains and distributing it to the needy, bridging the gap to reducing hunger and waste at the same time.

State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee applauded Hard Rock Hotel for their steadfastness and dedication to giving back to society through such programmes, which create an avenue for the people to take part in the noble cause, as well as to keep fit.

“Their (Hard Rock Hotel) persistent initiatives create forward-moving steps in making the world a better place.

“Hard Rock Hotel is also widely known for its active involvement in corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaigns, setting an example by taking boundless initiatives to care for and giving back to the local community.

“I would like to applaud and extend my gratitude to all the honorary sponsors and partners,” Soon said in his speech during the Rock to Rock Run (RTRR) press conference at the Hard Rock Hotel in Tanjung Bungah yesterday (Feb 2).

Registration opens today (Feb 2) to Feb 28 for the first 2,023 runners, which is the target that has been set by the hotel.

Runners may register through https://howei.com/event.details/rocktorockrun2023. There are two types of categories, namely the Fun Run (3.8km) and Competitive Run (10.2km).
