BEAUTY contestants in the Miss CosmoWorld pageant and their supporters have been urged to be Malaysia’s ambassadors when they return home.

Penang Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin expressed hopes that they would share their experiences and stories back in their homeland after having spent some time in Penang and Malaysia.

“2020 is a very special year for Malaysia and Penang as we will be having our Visit Malaysia Year 2020 and Experience Penang 2020 respectively,” Yeoh said at a press conference in Komtar today.

“We hope that the people who have spent time with us here before to be our ambassadors when they are back to their homeland.

‘Your experiences here and the stories you share when you return home will be a much more important tool than what we can create.

“Thus, we hope that the past 10 days that you have spent here in Malaysia and the few days here in Penang have given you a good impression of our culture as well as an unforgettable experience.”

Also present were Miss CosmoWorld pageant organiser Carrie Lee and 25 world finalists from 19 countries.

Yeoh commented that the theme for next year Experience Penang 2020 is the diversity of Asia.

“I believe with your short tour through the Unesco World Heritage Site in George Town, yacht cruise to the second Penang Bridge, visit to Pulau Jerejak and Penang Hill, as well as Escape Theme Park in Penang will expose you to our diversity of cultural heritage, nature and food.

“I believe this is the second year Miss CosmoWorld has picked Penang for their visit. I am sure we are doing something right here to have this privilege,” Yeoh commented.

Miss CosmoWorld 2019 will be held on Nov 1 at St Regis in Kuala Lumpur.
