High hope for Penang Sukma swimming team to put on a grand display.

 

THE Penang Sukma swimming team of four girls is expected to perform well and win medals for the state, when they compete in the meet come September next month.

Team’s coach, Xu Ya Fen, 65, said the four girls will compete in a total of 13 categories in the Sukma Games to be held in Perak

“They will compete in the 50m butterfly, 100m frog style, 400m free style, 200m mixed, 50m free style and others,” Xu who is from China said when met by Bulletin Mutiara on August 23 at the Penang Golf Club’s swimming pool.

Xu, who was the coach of the team since January this year, said four girls have been selected while the boys team will be training for the next Sukma Games.

“The boys in training were not ready for competition as yet,” she stressed.
She added from January till the present moment, the girls team has shown improvement .

“I hope they will do their best, and will be placed in the top three position,” Xu stressed.

She said she has improvised the training program for the Penang team by adding another physical training aspect.

Meanwhile, a team member Ho Keesha, 16, said she hope to collect some medals at the Games.

“I have been involved in swimming for the last seven years, and this is my second participation in the Sukma Games,” said the student from Han Chiang High School
Her other team members include Song Joe Han, 13, Liew Shi Qi, 15, and Teh Yong Ying, 14.
