THE Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) is aiming to achieve a 70% recycling rate by 2030.

Inspired by Singapore’s effective solid waste management, MBSB secretary Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid said MBSP will strengthen its strategic cooperation with various stakeholders, including Syarimat Tetra Pak (M) Sdn Bhd (Tetra Pak), and Nestle Milo UHT Malaysia (Nestle), to implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

“These initiatives include box collection and other recycling activities. We can’t be doing all this alone, we need shared responsibility from all parties,” he said during a recycling event at Subway Carnival Mall in Seberang Jaya on Saturday (March 23).

In a related development, Baderul Amin also praised Tetra Pak and Nestle for organising an educational exhibition.

Tetra Pak and Nestle provided vouchers worth RM5 and Milo UHT (200ml X 6) boxes to the first 100 visitors, who brought 20 packs to be recycled.

Among those present were MBSP councillors Bernard Cheen and Heng Yeh Shiuan, and Tetra Pak ASEAN Region Sustainability director Terrynz Tan.
