IT was a day of jubilation for pupils in the Padang Kota constituency as they beamed with pride while receiving awards for their academic achievements at Lee Kongsi, Burmah Road in George Town.
They were awarded in various categories, including primary (Year 1-6), secondary (Form 1-4), SPM, and STPM for the 2023 session. A total of 85 top achievers were honoured at the event.
In addition, 16 winners of the colouring and drawing contest, organised by the MPKK Lebuh Chulia, were also celebrated during the ceremony.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who attended the award ceremony, highlighted the state government’s commitment to human capital development.
“We need the support of parents and the community to nurture Penang’s human capital. At the same time, the state government seeks to work with the Federal government to make educational reform a success and ensure access to quality education,” he said.
Buletin Mutiara also had the opportunity to interview some parents of the outstanding students.
G. Nagavalli was extremely happy with her daughter S. Thaneshika’s academic performance.
“We are truly excited to see our daughter recognised for her excellent performance in her studies. This will encourage her and other students to continue excelling,” Nagavalli said.
Another parent, Issaivani Daniel, thanked the state government for organising the event. Her daughter, T. Pireethiha, was one of the award recipients.
“We appreciate the state government’s gesture in recognising the students. Thank you, and we hope this initiative will continue,” Issaivani added.
Norhidayu Noormohamad, mother of Nur Ariesya Amani Ahmad Rizal, who scored straight A’s in her exams, also shared her pride in her daughter’s accomplishments.
“We hope our daughter will continue to achieve success in her future endeavours,” Norhidayu said.
Thaneshika, Pireethiha and Ariesya are studying at SK Perempuan Methodist.
