Inaugural WHOLE PENANG 2020 draws 100 exhibitors

THE World Hospitality, Lifestyle and Entertainment Exhibition and Conference (WHOLE PENANG 2020) is set to take the hospitality industry by storm next week.

Some 100 exhibitors will be showcasing their latest products that are related to the hospitality industry in a three-day trade event at Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Lepas. They include several companies (mainly from the ASEAN countries) which have also taken up virtual booths.

It will be held from Sept 10 to 12.

Alpine Group Services managing director Anita Jacobson said the event is set to attract about 3,000 visitors over the three days.

“We strongly encourage people to pre-register. Registration is free and is open until 11.59pm on Sept 8,” she said.

Trade event business specialist Alpine Group Services is the organiser of the event. Buletin Mutiara is the official media partner of WHOLE PENANG 2020.

Jacobson said that the company has decided to organise the WHOLE PENANG 2020 in a hybrid manner, in view of the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The WHOLE PENANG 2020 hybrid concept provides both physical and virtual platforms for our exhibitors and visitors to take part in the event.

“For example, international exhibitors can use the virtual exhibition platform to promote their products as international travel is still not allowed. International visitors can also use the virtual platform to visit local and international exhibitions during the event.

“The Business-to-Business (B2B) activities are the focus of WHOLE PENANG 2020,” she told Buletin Mutiara.

Jacobson said several programmes would be live-streamed to benefit more participants.

The opening ceremony by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri would be held on Sept 10 at the main stage at Setia SPICE Convention Centre. The opening ceremony is not open to the public but will be live-streamed.

Other live-stream programmes include ASEAN Tourism Forums (Brunei, Jakarta and Medan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam), cooking demonstrations and the closing ceremony by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

There are also various activities lined-up; such as ‘Wellness in Covid-19 Talk’ by Ministry of Health (MoH) and Penang Centre of Medical Tourism (PMED), ‘Responsible Tourism Talk’ by Penang Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, and Speak Easy Sessions.

All visitors stand a chance to win hotel and F&B vouchers.
