InvestPenang chief executive officer Dato’ Loo Lee Lian has been conferred the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN), which carries the title Dato’ Seri, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Penang’s economic development and semiconductor industry.

Loo received the prestigious state honour during the investiture ceremony held in conjunction with the 85th birthday celebration of Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Ramli Ngah Talib at Dewan Sri Pinang today.

The award acknowledges her pivotal role in strengthening Penang’s semiconductor ecosystem and positioning the state as a leading hub in the global semiconductor value chain.

Over the past 16 years, Loo has played a key role in attracting global investors and enhancing Penang’s value proposition as a premier investment destination. Under her leadership, InvestPenang has forged strategic partnerships, facilitated the expansion of high-value industries, and contributed significantly to the state’s economic growth and global competitiveness.

She has also been instrumental in driving the continued success of Penang’s semiconductor industry, with her leadership helping to reinforce the state’s reputation as one of the world’s most important technology and manufacturing hubs.

InvestPenang is the Penang government’s principal investment promotion agency, tasked with driving sustainable economic growth by attracting both foreign and domestic investments while nurturing new growth sectors and supporting existing industries.

Expressing her gratitude, Loo thanked the Yang di-Pertua Negeri and the Penang government for the prestigious recognition.

“I am truly honoured and humbled to receive this State Award. It has been my great privilege to serve the state of Penang through InvestPenang over the past 16 years.

“I am sincerely grateful for the trust, support and appreciation shown for the work that InvestPenang has carried out throughout the years.

“This recognition is not just for me personally, but also for the entire InvestPenang team and all our partners who have worked together in contributing to Penang’s economic growth and development.

“I receive this award with deep gratitude and will continue to do my very best in serving the state,” she told Buletin Mutiara.

“Alhamdulillah, all praise be to Allah SWT. This recognition is a tribute to MBSP and all its staff, as this is the first time an MBSP secretary has received the DSPN award.

“I have served MBSP for 32 years, beginning my career as an assistant director before progressing to my current position. Throughout those years, I have served in many departments and experienced countless challenges, memorable moments and significant changes within the organisation.

“It is truly a privilege to receive this honour, and it will certainly inspire me to continue serving the state with greater dedication through MBSP,” he said.

MBSP mayor Datuk Baderul Amin Abdul Hamid congratulated Mohd Ibrahim on the prestigious recognition.

“May this meaningful honour serve as a catalyst for him to continue contributing with dedication, strengthen excellence in public service, and lead MBSP towards delivering services that are more efficient, integrity-driven and competitive,” he said.
