SOME 20 children from St. Nicholas Home, Penang were hosted at the Habitat and treated to a sensory nature experience on Penang Hill this morning.
It is important to work towards an inclusive community and society and this especially includes people with physical and other disabilities.

The Penang Hill Corporation has also kindly contributed to the event by providing logistics support for the children to visit Penang Hill,” Air Itam assemblymember Joseph Ng Soon Siang said in this speech in conjunction with the function.
Also present were Habitat Penang Hill and Habitat Foundation’s managing director, Allen Tan, general manager of Habitat Foundation, Justine Vaz and executive director of Nicholas Home Penang, Daniel Soon.
Ng said it has always been the Penang State Government’s vision for all Penangites inclusive of the handicapped to feel comfortable and wanted, and opportunities provided to all.
Meanwhile, Tan said : “We are honoured to host St Nicholas Home Penang, at the Habitat today as it allows us to not only re-interpret our nature programs for a special audience.
“In this case the visually impaired, but also allow us to learn from them in order to enable us to broaden access to the nature experiences that we offer to an even wider audience.
“At the Habitat, our mission is to conserve biodiversity through education, research and sustainable tourism in an effort to convince people to make small changes in their own lives which contribute to a more sustainable future, hence our slogan, ‘Conserve, Educate, Inspire”, he commented.
During the function, the St Nicholas Team were also taken for a tour of the historical 1.6km Nature Trail built in the early 1800s by The British East India Company.
