KDU Penang University College makes it into Malaysia Book of Records

THE School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts of KDU Penang University College made it into the Malaysia Book of Records for successfully completing the ‘Most Number of Mocktails Serving’ challenge.

The KDU team comprised 18 students and their lecturer Prakash R. Jegathesan who made a total of 801 mocktails within 40 minutes.

The challenge was held on Oct 6 in KDU Penang University College in conjunction with its Technicolour Multicultural Festival.

Deputy Chief Minister II Prof. Dr P. Ramasamy and exco for Tourism Development, Heritage, Culture & Arts Yeoh Soon Hin were among the guests present at the festival.

Also present were office manager of Malaysia Book Records Lee Pooi Leng and Vice-chancellor of KDU Penang University College.

When approached by the Buletin Mutiara team, Prakash said that they have been training intensively for the past three weeks.

“It was my dream of taking part in this challenge as I had the idea since 10 years ago and eventually this year everything fell into place.

”I felt that this batch of students was ready for the challenge. Thus we took up the challenge and now we have won it.

“We managed to make 777 cups during our training session but today we were able to make 801 cups and I am so excited that we got into the Malaysia Book of Records,” said Prakash.
