Little glowing baubles to mark an exciting new year

THE colourful mini hot air balloon paper crafts transformed the Butterworth Art Walk and the Esplanade into magical garden as the crafts lit up like cute little lanterns there.

Some 400 mini hot air balloons were hung along the 200m Butterworth Art Walk in Jalan Bagan Luar here.

These 400 mini hot air balloons are now on display until March 30 next year (2019).

Another 700 mini hot air balloon paper crafts are currently on display at the Esplanade until March 14 next year (2019).

Known as ‘The Path’ of Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2019, these paper crafts were made by children of up to 12-years-old.

‘The Path’ is a prelude to the much-awaited Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, which will be held in February.

The exciting Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2019 will be returning for the fifth year on Feb 9 and 10 next year (2019).

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow congratulated the organiser AKA Balloons Sdn Bhd and the children for putting in much effort to making ‘The Path’ a remarkable success.

“The Path showcases the children’s imagination and creativity.

“It also provides space for the public to enjoy.

“I believe that the fiesta in February will be able to attract more tourists to Penang.

“Local and international tourist arrivals have been increasing annually,” Chow said during the launching ceremony of ‘The Path’ at Butterworth Art Walk today.

He also commended the Penang Island City Council, Seberang Perai Municipal Council and Penang Global Tourism for their efforts.
