Malaysia Hindu Sangam wishes to work together with Penang state government on several issues

THE team from the Malaysia Hindu Sangam Penang state council this evening paid a courtesy visit on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office in Komtar.

The team comprised its chairman M. Muniandy, deputy chairman Thondarmani G. Munisaran, vice chairman A. Tharman, honorary secretary B. Mohan, honorary treasurer K. Kalahrani, assistant treasurer R. Navarasan, women’s wing chairperson Thondarmani P. Saroja, Youth leader M. Sivaguru and committee member S.O Appan.

On behalf of the council, M. Muniandy garlanded Chow and conveyed their heartiest congratulations for his appointment as the Penang Chief Minister.

Besides congratulating Chow, the Malaysia Hindu Sangam team also highlighted several issues which need the state government’s assistance and involvement.

Vice chairman A. Tharman briefed the chief minister on the introduction and founding of the Malaysia Hindu Sangam Penang state council and also highlighted its objectives, goals, mission and vision.

The 30-minute discussion touched on their upcoming programmes such as the get-together with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), temple convention, religious convention and also their future plans to purchase a hearse with the intention of helping to organise funeral rites for unclaimed bodies from hospital morgues in Penang.

“We want to work together with the state government towards a common objective which is to bring prosperity to the people as what the chief minister conceded during Penang 2030,” said A. Tharman.

In replying the council, the chief minister said the issues raised will be taken into account and discussions will be held soon with the proper authorities to come up with amicable solutions.

Chow also thanked the association for their visit and said he would look into the matter.

Towards the end of their discussion, the council members had a great sense of pride as it was their first encounter up close with the chief minister.
