Matching students with scholarships

SCHOOL leavers in Penang can now have opportunities to pursue tertiary education through scholarships and financial support initiated by the Uni Enrol and the Federation of Northern Hawkers’ Associations.

Known as the Scholar Search Penang 2023 programme, it matches students with suitable scholarships so that they can get financial support to study at reputable local and international universities.

A roadshow will take place at Gurney Walk and Sunway Carnival Mall on May 20 and May 21 respectively, from 10am to 10pm.

Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi said Uni Enrol, which is the largest online university enrolment programme, aims to provide more students with access to financial aid to further their education.

“We want to ensure more students in the state can pursue tertiary studies at the university of choice.

“In fact, they offer 20% of medicine and 15% of business and accounting courses. We are glad that Uni Enrol provides students with information about available courses, scholarships, rebates, and other related information.

“Apart from the Penang Future Foundation (PFF), this platform is another alternative for the students,” he said at a press conference in Elite House, Jelutong today.

Uni Enrol chief executive officer Rickson Khaw said they intended to help students to identify suitable scholarships to study at reputable universities.

“We have 500 types of scholarships, covering 3,000 courses worth RM25 million in scholarship funds listed on our platform.

“Those who use Uni Enrol can maximise their chances of a successful application by being matched with suitable courses,” he said.
