More items pour in for Covid-19 frontliners

A GROUP of seven establishments have stepped forward to donate personal protective equipment (PPE) and disposable face masks to the Penang government in its fight against Covid-19.

They are Penang Chinese Town Hall (10,000 PPEs), Farlim Group (M) Bhd (10,000 face masks), the Association of Graduates from Universities and Colleges of China (Penang) (4,000 PPEs), Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce Penang Branch (5,000 face masks), Hui Pak Tong Heong Hoay Association (5,000 face masks), Penang Chinese Town Hall Youth (3,500 face masks) and Golden Frontier Packaging Sdn Bhd (20,000 boxes of packaging boxes).

Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) secretary Leong Woay Hong said the total contributions are worth RM100,000.

“We want to help reduce the burden of the state government with our contributions and also to the Penang people who are supporting the movement control order (MCO) in tackling the disease outbreak.

“We urge more societies and people to contribute in whatever they can to help the frontliners overcome Covid-19. We also urge the people to obey the MCO to make our fight a success.”

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who has often prioritised the safety of the frontliners, thanked the various representatives after receiving the donations.

The representatives included PCTH chairman Datuk Seri Khor Ten Haw, Farlim Group chairman Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong (who is also PCTH adviser), PCTH vice-chairman Teh Eng Hin, Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce Penang Branch chairman Datuk Yeoh Moh Chai, PCTH committee members Teh Win Sern, Loke Chee Tion and PCTH Youth treasurer Jeffrey Yeoh.

Also present were state executive councillor Yeoh Soon Hin, Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng and former assemblyman Lau Keng Ee.
