PENANG Development Corporation will incorporate a different design for its cluster house project, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
“We’ve one more cluster house project. The new design will have a wide space in between two units which can serve as a backdoor if a fire occurs,” Chow, who is also the PDC chairman, told reporters after officiating the UOW Malaysia KDU Penang ‘Assemble Final Year Exhibition 2020’ at 1st Avenue in George Town today.
He was responding to a question on the loss of a girl’s life in a fire that occurred in a house in Bayan Lepas on Jan 9.
Asked whether the state could carry out urban regeneration project for cluster houses, Chow said that would be quite a challenging task.
“To redevelop the cluster homes, the residents may not be able to stay in landed property anymore but instead in highrise,” Chow explained.
