NGO and state govt join hands to fight Covid-19

ONE Hope Charity & Welfare, a non-governmental organisation, has come forward to help the state government in combating the Covid-19 outbreak.

The NGO that was represented by its chairman Chua Sui Hau handed over some medical aid to the representative from the State Health Department, Dr Elizabeth Anthony, in the presence of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar today.

Apart from that, 100,000 pieces of face mask were also presented to the representatives from the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) and the police.

Chow conveyed his thanks to the NGO for helping the state in its mission to curb the outbreak.

“I would like to thank One Hope Charity for contributing equipment such as face masks, isolation gowns, jump suits and medical equipment amounting to RM1.8 million to our hospitals and clinics, as well as local councils and the police.

Meanwhile, PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd and Penang Development Corporation (PDC) contributed RM100,000 and RM1 million respectively to the Penang COVID-19 Fund.

Also present during the presentation ceremony were MBPP mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang, MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud, PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd general manager (Penang Branch) Jasmon Lim and PDC general manager Datuk Mohd Bazid Abd Kahar.
