‘Open Mic’ programme helps youth display musical talents

YOUNG performers had the opportunity to showcase their musical talents via Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC)’s ‘Open Mic’ programme held recently at 1st Avenue Mall.

The programme also took place concurrently with the ‘Cosworld Festival’ that was held just a week ago, from July 22 to July 24, at the same venue.

State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said the ‘Open Mic’ was a platform for youths to execute their ideas in music through performances even if they do not have any experience.

“’Open Mic’ is part of the ‘Youth with Rhythm: Youth in Music’ initiative in which we want the youth to be able to enjoy expressing themselves through music.

“I would like to applaud our young performers here for their courage to perform on stage in public.

“I believe that young people have boundless talents and potential.

“So, I would like to also encourage those who desire to start a career in music, to register themselves under the ‘Youth with Rhythm: Youth in Music’ programme at http://pydc.com.my,” Soon said when officiating the event on July 24.
