AS the world marks International Women’s Day 2024, the Penang government extends warm wishes to women across the state, emphasising the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’.
Penang Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim said the theme aligns with the government’s commitment to creating an empowered and inclusive society for women from diverse backgrounds, especially those in marginalised communities.
“The state government, in collaboration with the Penang Women’s Development Corporation, is dedicated to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment through various initiatives.
“Programmes such as Sidang Wanita Pulau Pinang and the Penang Women Entrepreneur Mentoring Programme (PWEMP) aim to foster economic empowerment and leadership development, contributing to the vision of Penang2030 to leave no one behind,” she said in a statement today.
Lim added that the state government recognises the importance of celebrating diversity and championing inclusion, stressing the need for inclusive policies and practices.
“These efforts aim to uplift and empower every individual, fostering an environment where every voice is heard and respected.
“We welcome stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organisations, businesses, and individuals, to join hands in this meaningful endeavour,” Lim said.
