Penang to wait for Auditor-General’s confirmation on state’s financial statement

THE state’s financial statement is still being finalised by the Auditor-General.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that figures for the year 2018 have yet to be finalised.

“We shall wait for the Auditor-General to issue the certificate once the figures are finalised,” Chow told a press conference after launching the Penang2030 guide at Loft 29 in Church Street Ghaut today.

Penang Financial Officer Datuk Sarul Bahiyah Abu said the state was unable to comment further pending the confirmation by the Auditor-General.

Penang Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas said yesterday (April 26), that the state’s 2018 financial statement had been submitted to the Auditor-General on Jan 16 this year to be audited.

He said the financial statement stated that the state’s expenditure was RM1.005 billion, while the revenue was RM987 million.
