Penang warmly welcomes AG conference participants

SOME 100 representatives from 20 different countries, including Malaysia, are taking part in the Allinial Global’s (AG) Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2022 both physically and virtually at the Penang Shangri-La Rasa Sayang in Batu Ferringhi today.

The conference, which is organised by AG, is the world’s second-largest association of independent accounting and consulting firms. It will be held until Aug 24.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who attended the conference today, congratulated AG on the expansion of its network of members.

“It is indeed commendable that Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing segment of the AG membership.

“AG, which is ranked the fourth largest in the Asia Pacific by World Survey 2022 (International Accounting Bulletin 2022), plays a strategic role in delivering independent accounting and consultancy services.

“At the same time, we (Penang) feel privileged to be chosen by AG to hold its regional conference,” Chow said during his speech at the conference.

Chow also acknowledged the contribution of AG Malaysia to the country.

“I look forward to AG Malaysia making more inroads in the future.

“I am most certain that you will have fruitful and rewarding exchanges from the conference. And while you are here, do remember that this beautiful state is yours to explore and enjoy.

“Also remember to recommend Penang as well as Malaysia to potential investors around the globe,” Chow added.

Meanwhile, AG USA president and chief executive officer Mark Koziel lauded Penang for creating a good ecosystem for companies.

Koziel

“Our firms generally represent small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as such Penang has done a wonderful job concerning the ecosystem.

“This brings more businesses to support large businesses. And I love the reference given to Penang as the Silicon Valley of the East,” Koziel said.

Joe Chong, the chief executive officer of ASQ consulting group, a lead firm for AG Malaysia, said AG Malaysia was formed in 2020.

“We consist of a dynamic network of advisory and accounting firms with locations across Malaysia. And we have 23 partners with more than 400 staff across 11 offices,” he said.

Apart from Malaysia, the other AG members, namely the United States, Britain, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, India, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Nepal, China, Bangladesh, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, are participating in the conference.
