Police urged to step up patrols

VIDEO footage of an armed robbery at Chai Leng Park on Sept 29, which was shared on social media sites, horrified people who were shocked to see a gun toting man outside a jewellery shop.
Within two minutes, the gunman and his accomplices fled the scene.

On Sept 30, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng visited the shop to show the state government’s concern.
Accompanying him were Deputy Chief Minister II and Prai assemblymember Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy, exco members Lim Hock Seng and Phee Boon Poh and Batu Kawan MP P. Kasthuriraani.

Lim was shown the CCTV footages and everyone was shocked at how the robbers were so daring in carrying out their crime in a densely-populated area in the vicinity of the Chai Leng Park market.
The victims lost about RM600,000 in the robbery which took only a mere two minutes.

“I have personally contacted the police chief, Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi, regarding this crime. I also requested that he increase the presence of police personnel and to patrol the area more often. This is to restore public confidence towards the credibility of our security forces,” Lim told a press after the visit.
