Ramakrishna Ashrama delegations calls on the Chief Minister

DELEGATES from Ramakrishna Ashrama Penang led by their deputy president K. Ramasamy paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office today.

According to Ramasamy, the institution is the oldest Indian orphanage in Malaysia which started way back in 1938.

“Ramakrishna Ashrama is an important institution in Penang catering not only to orphans but we also have a school (SJKT Ramakrishna) as well as a kindergarten which cater to the public as well.

“The school (SJKT Ramakrishna ) is among the top schools in Penang where it has won several awards in science and innovation competitions.

“The Ashrama (Ramakrishna Ashrama) has some 45 children now,” said Ramasamy.

During the meeting, Ramasamy highlighted some issues pertaining to the infrastructure damages as well as insufficient funds to run the institution.

As a gesture of appreciation, the delegates presented Chow with a book on the history of Ramakrishna Ashrama.

Also present were trustee Ramu Shanmugam, secretary-general K. Thangaraj, treasurer A. Raman, SJKT Ramakrishna principal K. Puvaneswari and the board members of Ramakrishna Ashrama.
