A TOTAL of 500 pupils and students in the Datok Keramat constituency received school uniform vouchers from its assemblyman Jagdeep Singh at Komtar in George Town today.

Jagdeep, who is also the state Housing, Town, Country Planning and Local Government Committee chairman, said he had been giving out this aid for the past 10 years.

“This is an important programme to help those in need of help. Over the years, the number of recipients and cost had increased. This year, the expenditure is the highest at RM30,000 as each voucher is worth RM60,” Jagdeep said in his speech at the voucher presentation ceremony.

“My advice to the students is that they must listen to the instructions and advice of their parents.”

The representatives from the JKKKs from P. Ramlee, Jalan York, Kampong Makam, Taman Free School, Datok Keramat, Kebun Lama and Kampong Dodol were present to receive the vouchers on behalf of the students. Apart from that, a representative from Ramakrishna school was also present to receive the vouchers on behalf of 95 students.
