A HUGE number of avid runners came out in support of the Run With Flying Colours 2019 held at Karpal Singh Drive here.

About 2,000 of them rose early to take part in the run, despite it being a Sunday.

Penang  Women and Family Development, Gender Inclusiveness and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Chong Eng invited the community to render their support to women.

“The support we gave would have a positive impact on women. Be the first to show your support. Pass it on!” Chong Eng said after opening the run on March 10.

Chong Eng also called on the Federal Government to provide better working environment and family-friendly facilities to encourage more mothers to return to the workforce.

The run was organised by JCI Pearl to mark the International Women’s Day (IWD). IWD is celebrated annually on March 8.

Event organising chairman Olivia Lee said the organisation wanted to raise awareness on gender equality, and to celebrate women’s success through this event.

“We want to organise an event that is able to deliver a message,” she said.
