HARD Rock Hotel Penang’s Rock to Rock Run is back!

The Rock to Rock Run 2019 was aimed at raising funds to purchase a new ambulance for the Malaysia Civil Defense Department to manage and operate the vehicle to enhance the emergency response service.

Penang Youths and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said the charitable run would benefit residents in Batu Ferringhi and Teluk Bahang.

“The Rock to Rock Run was established in 2010 and has benefitted eight non-profit organisations in the past through its fund raising programmes,” Soon told a press conference at Hard Rock Café today.

According to the official website, the run is back for the eighth time.

It also stated that the hotel was staying true to its motto – Take Time to be Kind.

The hotel intended to raise RM70,000 to buy a new ambulance valued at about RM185,000.

The website stated that the balance of the required amount would be co-sponsored by the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Penang Chapter including hotels in Batu Ferringhi; as well as contributions from various sponsors.

It also stated that the ambulance will be stationed in Batu Ferringhi or Teluk Bahang to benefit the local community, tourists, hotel guests there.

The Rock to Rock Run 2019 allows participants to enjoy the scenic coast of Batu Ferringhi on foot.

They can either take on the 10.2km Competitive Run or the 3.8km Fun Run.

All registered runners will each receive a finisher medal, a T-shirt, an e-certificate, a goodie bag, a lucky draw ticket and a light refreshment.

It will be held from 6.30am to 10.30am on June 23 at Hard Rock Hotel Penang.

Registration is now open and is limited to the first 2,000 runners.

The fee is RM88 (Competitive or Fun Run).
