COMMUNITY association, Persatuan Hooi Lam Lian Heong Hoay Pulau Pinang, has received timely aid to upgrade its premises in Lebuh Presgrave.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow who is also the Tanjong MP, has allocated RM15,000 to support the association’s upgrading works.
He stressed the importance of preserving religious and cultural values.
“Religious and cultural values of a community are something that should be conserved and preserved.
“These values should be passed down to the younger generation.
“Most residents (Chinese community) in this area have moved out to other townships but the association played a pivotal role in holding them together as a community,” Chow said after presenting a mock cheque to the association in Lebuh Presgrave today.
He hoped that the leaders from this association would collaborate with other associations to contribute to the well-being of the community.
Meanwhile, the Persatuan Hooi Lam Lian Heong Hoay Pulau Pinang chairman Ong Eng Choon thanked Chow for his kind gesture.
Also present during the mock cheque presentation was Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi.
