SME launches its Centre of Excellence at Penang Harbour Trade Centre

THE Swift Bridge Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd has opened its Centre of Excellence (COE) at the Penang Harbour Trade Centre in Gat Lebuh Macallum today.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was the guest of honour at its grand opening, congratulated the organisation for its 10-year-long remarkable service in Penang.

“I would like to congratulate Swift Bridge Technologies, a local SME which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, for continuing to be a high-performance SME technology company in Penang.

“It designs and manufactures Radio Frequency (RF) products for the commercial test and measurement market.

“As we work to bounce back from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Swift Bridge Technologies intends to create an additional 20 Radio Frequency (RF) engineering job opportunities in the state, with a total capital investment of RM10 million in its new COE.

“I am also pleased to note that Swift Bridge Technologies will be signing two Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs) with Angkasa-X Innovation Sdn Bhd and Eclimo Sdn Bhd, both with the aim of creating more job opportunities and strengthening their business operations,” Chow added.

Chow said the state government would continue to play its role in empowering the growth of the local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through various initiatives such as the SME Village, Smart Centre, Seed Capital Fund, Penang SME Go Digital campaign and so on.

“It is anticipated that such initiatives will propel SMEs, such as Swift Bridge Technologies, to greater heights while also contributing significantly to Penang’s economic growth, in line with the state’s Penang2030 vision.

“Having said that, I wish Swift Bridge Technologies continued success and, with great pleasure, I hereby officially launch the Centre of Excellence of Swift Bridge Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd,” Chow said.

Apart from that Chow also praised Swift Bridge for being able to survive the Covid-19 pandemic challenges.

“It is among those who managed to sail through the pandemic challenges, while also serving as a role model through their CSR initiatives by assembling and donating 250,000 face shields to primary and secondary schools in Penang.

“The Swift Bridge has also reportedly filed three intellectual properties (IPs) in the US. This is indeed impressive and has indeed made Malaysians, particularly Penangites, proud.

“Since the 1990s, SMEs have been at the heart of Malaysia’s economic development, serving as a key engine of employment and economic growth.

“In 2020, SMEs contributed 38% or more than RM500 billion to our nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” he added.
