A TOTAL of 18 senior citizens at the Ranji Nursing Home in Jalan Rambutan, Air Itam, were all beaming with joy after receiving basic necessities from Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng today.

They were delighted with the gifts provided by Ng and non-governmental organisation (NGO) Malaysia Hindhudharma Maamandram (Penang Chapter) at a ceremony held in conjunction with the recent Tamil New Year celebration.

They received the basic necessities, such as flour, cooking oil, oats, and biscuits.

“This is a special occasion as we are able to witness a cultural diversity in the country.

“This is what matters the most as it helps to make nation a better place.

Ranji Nursing Home administration manager Madam Ranji expressed her gratitude to the NGO and Ng.

“Such event helps to cheer them up,” she said, adding that many of the old folks are ill.

Malaysia Hindhudharma Maamandram (Penang Chapter) chairman N. Thanabalan was also grateful for being given the opportunity to organise such event.

“We would like to bring cheer to the senior citizens and liven up the environment,” he said.
