由于新冠肺炎确诊病例逐渐增加，中央政府为此宣布18日起展开行动限制政策，槟州政府也呼吁所有公司或单位，采取必要的预防措施，尽量避免举行会议，并善用网络平台进行会议，以防止新冠肺炎进一步蔓延及传播。 在槟岛市政厅在市长拿督尤端祥的号召下，该厅昨日立即展开第一个线上会议，取代原有在市政厅召开的常务委员会会议，率先成为典范，也希望州内各个部门以及私人企业能够相继效仿，转换为网络平台进行会议，因为防疫工作人人有责。
