THE state government remains steadfast in its commitment to assisting residents with housing maintenance issues, says State Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu.

Sundarajoo reiterated this commitment during his visit to Taman Idaman Flats today, where he was accompanied by a team from the Penang Housing Board.

“The state government has contributed RM142,400 via the Penang Maximum 80% Maintenance Fund (TPM80PP) for the roof upgrading work at Block D of Taman Idaman in Simpang Ampat.

“The remaining balance of RM35,600 was borne by the Management Corporation of Taman Idaman.

“The scope of work includes waterproofing and the installation of gutters to improve water flow,” Sundarajoo said, emphasising the compassionate nature of the Penang government.

Sundarajoo also shared that the residents of Taman Idaman Flats have requested road resurfacing work in the neighbourhood, which his team will consider.

“Our queue for maintenance work is quite long, and we ask all residents to be patient until their turn comes up. Rest assured, it will be done,” he added.

Ramlan Rosdi, the representative from the Taman Idaman Management Corporation, thanked the state government for their assistance with maintenance.

It is learned that the state government, through its various housing maintenance funds, has spent a total of RM367.79 million on 36,470 maintenance works from 2008 until April this year.

Under the TPM80PP, the state government has spent a total of RM78.84 million on 845 maintenance works.
