Taman Sardon futsal court gets a facelift

RESIDENTS of Taman Sardon can resume their futsal activities at the newly renovated futsal court in their neighbourhood once the movement control order (2.0) is lifted.

According to Seri Delima state assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid, the futsal court was upgraded with a cost of RM 198,720.98 which was allocated by State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee.

“Last year in June, when YB Soon and myself paid a visit to Taman Sardon futsal court, we found out that, it was not in a good condition with stagnant waters, cracked floors and covered with moss, as well as full of litter around the court.

“So, I proposed to YB Soon to upgrade the futsal court and he granted my request by providing the allocation for the upgrading work which took place from Nov 3 2020 till Dec 15 2020.

“The upgrading work was done under the observation of North East District and Land office who had appointed Hatika Jaya Enterprise as its contractor,’’ said Syerleena during a site visit to the futsal court today.

The renovation of futsal court involved the resurfacing and repainting of the floors, replacement of fencing, upgrading of drainage system and the pedestrian walkway as well as the maintenance of the court lighting.

Syerleena added that, apart from the Taman Sardon Futsal court, a basketball court in the Island Glades neighbourhood has been given a facelift as well.

“I would like to express my gratitude to YB Soon for the prompt action and giving priority in ensuring a conducive environment for the community to practice sports,’’ added Syeerlena.

Soon who was also present said that, basic sports infrastructure is essential to enhance the growth of sports in the state.

“Whether, it is in the city or rural area, we need to ensure that sports facilities are adequate and in proper maintenance to enable us to achieve greater heights in sports,’’ he said.

During the site visit, Taman Tun Sardon MPKK (Village Community Management Council) chairman Mohd Hafiz Abdul Aziz received keys from Northeast district penghulu Nasrizal Nasib, to indicate the takeover of the futsal court management.
