TECH Dome Penang (TDP) continues to reinforce its commitment to advancing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and artificial intelligence (AI) education, nurturing a new generation of innovators equipped for the future.
TDP chief executive officer Khoo Boo Wooi said that through its dynamic exhibitions, hands-on workshops and extensive school outreach programmes, the organisation remains steadfast in its mission to ignite curiosity, build awareness, and cultivate a strong culture of innovation among students across Penang and beyond.

“We believe that the foundation of a future-ready society lies in providing early exposure and creating opportunities for students to explore technology in a fun, engaging and meaningful way,” he said during his speech at the Codeavour National Competition yesterday (April 2).
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, Bagan Jermal assemblyman Chee Yeeh Keen and Jagdeep’s special adviser J. Philip Vincent.
Elaborating on the competition, Khoo emphasised that Codeavour goes beyond coding, serving as a transformative platform that encourages students to think critically, tackle real-world challenges and develop solutions with meaningful societal impact.
“It empowers students to combine creativity with technology, and most importantly, to believe that their ideas matter.
“In organising this competition, we have ensured that it aligns with international standards, from the judging criteria to the development platforms used by students.
“This is crucial as we aim to provide participants with a global-level experience, preparing them not only for competitions but also for future careers in technology and innovation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chee commended TDP for spearheading such a meaningful initiative, noting that it reflects a strong commitment towards building an inclusive and impactful technological ecosystem.

“By encouraging students to apply AI in solving real-world challenges, we are nurturing a generation that not only understands technology but uses it with purpose and responsibility,” he said.
Jagdeep highlighted the overwhelming response to this year’s competition, with more than 100 online submissions received from schools nationwide, a clear indication of the growing enthusiasm for AI and innovation among Malaysian students.

“Following a rigorous evaluation process, only 20 teams from the primary category and 20 teams from the secondary category were shortlisted to compete in the Codeavour National Competition.
“From the 40 finalist teams, eight teams from each category will go on to represent Malaysia at the international stage in Jakarta. This is a proud moment not only for the students and their schools, but for the nation as a whole,” he said.
