THE Penang Hospital has received eight Philips Respironics oxygen concentrators from the Lions Club International Multiple District 308 (Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei) today.

The council chairman Ooi Chao Syhuan said that the oxygen concentrators are worth RM32,000 and is a timely help for the hospital.

“Previously, we have contributed personal protective equipment (PPEs). Now, we felt that it is time for us to supply medical equipment to enhance our healthcare system.

“I understand that these Respironics oxygen concentrators will be sent to the recovery unit at the hospital to cater to those patients who have been discharged from the intensive care unit (ICU).

“The oxygen concentrators which are mobile, can also be used to help patients at the quarantine centres.

“Sometimes, those who are quarantined may need the oxygen supply although their condition is not so critical. We leave it for the hospital to decide,’’ Ooi said during the handover ceremony at Komtar today.

The Respironics oxygen concentrators were received by Dr Vishantini Kanasan, who represented the Penang Hospital.
