THE Kepala Batas Hospital and Bukit Mertajam Hospital today received medical equipment supply from two different organisations to help support their healthcare system.

The Lions Club of Bagan Jermal has donated five units of oxygen concentrator to Kepala Batas Hospital while the Penang Furniture & Timber Industry Association has contributed 12 medical oxygen cylinders to Bukit Mertajam Hospital.

State Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who witnessed the presentation ceremony, thanked the organisations for the care and concern shown to the well-being of the community.

“It is really thoughtful of them to come forward to contribute the oxygen concentrator units and medical oxygen cylinders which are needed so urgently at the hospitals, as many Covid-19 patients need them.

“The most important thing now is we try our best to ensure that the hospitals are equipped with respiratory equipment such as these.

“It is our responsibility indeed,’’ said Phee during the handover ceremony this afternoon.

Lions Club of Bagan Jermal president Gooi Hong Tat said the organisation initiated a fundraiser to purchase the medical equipment.

“We are contributing four units of 5L oxygen concentrator and a unit of 10L oxygen concentrator which cost more than RM27,000. Our main intention is to support the healthcare system in Penang.

“We appreciate the public for their generous contribution towards our fundraising programme that we had organised,’’ said Gooi.
