Upgraded bus stop equipped with USB charging ports

TO enhance the convenience of students, the bus stop right in front of Chung Ling Private High School has been upgraded.

Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Tan Soo Siang said the bus stop, which has been extended double its original size, is equipped with USB charging port as well.

“On top of the existing bus stop, the school had requested us to build another bus stop to cater to more students.

“Instead of that, we (MBPP’s Engineering Department) decided to extend it from 5.08m x 2.4m (original size) to 10.15m x 2.6m.

“And now it has 12 seats, lighting and USB charging ports which can be handy for students to charge their phones while waiting for the bus.

“The total cost for the upgrading of the bus stop is RM40,000 and it is borne by the sponsor (corporate company),” Tan said during a press conference today near Chung Ling Private High School.

Also present were Bukit Gelugor parliamentary candidate Ramkarpal Singh, Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng and Chung Ling Private High School principal Ng Ooi Seah.

Tan added that the seats of the old bus stop have been relocated to another location (bus stop).

“The upgrading work, which began in October this year, was completed just a few days ago.

“There are a total of 20 bus stops that have been equipped with USB charging ports on the island,” she added.
